I'm with Chislut and others: fast onset is often a sign of flu: if you can get it confirmed, and start taking it early enough, Tamiflu or it's cousin for the other class of flu can make a huge difference. Not so much after the first day or so.

But you're there and I'm not, so that's just a general observation and not specific advice.

Instead I'll just say I hope you feel better soon. And that nobody else in your house gets it till you're done with it.

Take care,

I'm leaving some chicken soup and hot tea with honey on your virtual doorstep, ringing the doorbell, and running. I'd stay and chat, but I just got over the crud myself and don't want it back. Hope you feel better soon!

Boil some ginger root(you probably have some left over from your figging experiments) for about 20 minutes to make a very strong tea. Add some lemon and honey and you'll feel better in no time.
Cheers,
sss
