The Deciding Factor

Me:  I’m planning a vacation next month, and it’s really important that I have wireless access in my room.  Your hotel has that?

Bubbly-sounding woman with southern accent:  Oh yes ma’am.  We have access in every room.

Me:  It’s reliable?  I’m coming for vacation but I’ll still have to work.

Bubbly woman:  Oh yes.  We don’t have any problems with it.

Me:  What if I do have a problem with it?  I have to be able to work while I’m there.

Bubbly woman, no less bubbly than before:  Well then ma’am, if you have a problem with it, we’ll come to your room and fix the internet!

And this is why I’ve finally stopped dithering and made the decision to go on vacation.  I’m going to a place where they can actually fix the internet.

It’s gonna be great.

you’re doing it?

YAY!!!! i’m so glad and proud and excited for you to get a few days to recharge!!!

let us know if you need a few bux to help

I am so excited you’re going!! What (general) location did you decide on??

I’m going to Florida.

And I’d never say no to small change dropped in the tip jar.

:)

And if it’s like some place I’ve stayed in FL, they’ll send a cute cabana-type young man in really tight jeans up to fix your internet. ;)

Fix the internet……wow, is it a Google-owned hotel??? lol
What a cute woman that was. I hope you thoroughly enjoy your vaca.

Congrats! I hope you have fun, and get a chance to completely decompress.

Yay! So very excited for you (and a teensy bit jealous)!!
I tossed some change in you tip jar so you can have a cold, fruity, tropical drink on me :)

Love it! Don’t forget to say hello to the beaches and sunshine for me while I try not to die from papers due…

Oh I’m so excited for you! I’m from Florida, so bring a sweater, the nights are chilly! But you will have heavenly weather when the sun is out and you’re by the water.

Congrats on the vacation!

If these people are brilliant enough to fix the internet, what are they doing working at a hotel? I hear NASA is always looking for a few technological prodigies.

Flordia sounds like a really great idea right about now. Have a great time, AAG!

Yes, it’s going to be cool this week but by next week it’ll probably be back in the ’90’s. Here’s hoping our weather will cooperate and you’ll have a fabulous time relaxing at the beach! Don’t forget to have some stone crab!

You’re coming to Florida? They can fix the Internet here? Cool.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance… assuming you’re going someplace I’m familar with. ;)

Have a great time! You’ve certainly earned it.

(And either bring or be ready to buy some Ethernet cable, just in case. They may not have had any problems with it because nobody used it. I’ve seen that happen in a lot of different situations: I’ve assumed everybody’s pleased with something I did, sometimes for months, but it’s because nobody’s used it yet.)

So then, I guess you will officially be a Snowbird when this happens. Have a wonderful time and don’t let work interfere with your quiet time, reading time, doing-nothing time, etc.

We have some very good HVAC folks down here, but I didn’t know they were that good. Enjoy your visit.

Well then ma’am, if you have a problem with it, we’ll come to your room and fix the internet!

Now that’s customer service. Ms. Bubbly must be aiming for the Employee of the Month Award.

In reality, she’s probably has two kids to support and works two jobs to make it happen. If she still can manage to be bubbly, then bless her heart.

Have a wonderful time, aag!

You’re coming to Florida? That’s awesome!

lol Let me guess, somewhere in the middle part of the state, right? Definitely not the Southern part xD I can’t remember the last time I heard a person with a Southern accent down here.

(Yes, I know, but really, Southern Florida isn’t the Southern US, but more like Northern South America.)

Oooo! It was the promise of ridiculous amounts of libations wasn’t it? I knew it, you don’t have to say a thing! Well, since my part of the state is *quite* Southern, then I’m hoping you’re coming near here. Shoot me an e-mail if you’d like to find out where I am. I’m more than happy to at least tell you what spots to avoid or give some recommendations of what one simply cannot miss.

Glad you’re taking some time to just be a woman again. Not a mom, not a lover, not partner. Just you. And any loneliness you might feel while gone will only help to remind you of how great home is.

Be careful and ask about the price of the net connection - I went to San Antonio last year and stayed at The Hyatt on the Riverwalk - they had internet, but you paid by the minute.

Just a good question to ask…they don’t always advertise it…

Have fun honey…
