Definitely, a variable speed control added to a device not designed for it can lead to burn out.

The problem is that cooling on a universal motor is designed to work at a particular speed.

It may not look like the motor is doing a lot of work, but the off-balance weight they use to create vibrations actually puts a lot of stress on the motor.

Well, first I'm going to have to disagree with your title. I believe it is backwards in that, by my count the score is AAG: 2, Hitachis: 0 as you have used them both into submission. I am in awe :-)

On a more serious note, I have encountered a couple of people that have used the Magic Wand so often on the highest speed settings that they have lost the ability to orgasm from a lighter touch. Think of it like the guy who chronically masturbates with the 'Death Grip'. Same sort of thing.

I doubt this is the case with you, since you seem to use a variety of toys, not just the Magic Wand. Also these people said they had been righteously using their Wands for years. Nonetheless something to keep in mind. I know, I know... I'm such a freakin' killjoy.

As for getting off too much... BLASPHEMY! That's impossible. At least, I hope it's impossible. Oh man, it better be impossible. Now you've got ME concerned. When the intervention group is finished with you, could you send 'em over to my place?

Yeah, well, I certainly don't feel like I've WON over my poor deceased toys. :) -aag

Hitachis are definitely supposed to last a lot longer than that. From your description of how it died, it really seems like the motor gave out. I would suspect that this variable speed device is part of the problem. The person who suggested the power chord is possibly right as well.

Do you leave it plugged in when you're not using it? Are you particularly rough with it in any way?

If you want to get a new one, you can always call on me at Babeland.

Well - of course you need TWO - one always available for emergency backup

and then you need to voluteer for testing services and help them design the AAG-proof model with a warrent to let a person cum...a hundred times enough or do you need more? They might even name it...the AAG model...how cool would that be?

Hi AAG,

To go from NO wired device to burning out two Hitachis in one year. That is impressive

Re: why they are dying -- your instincts are correct, especially if it is an after-market device. I never knew that Hitachis had variable speed -- just thought it was the two.

Heat kills those things, though. How hot does it get?

Well, literally, if not figuratively...

Yeah, it's something that you plug the Hitachi into. I don't notice that it gets particularly hot, but to be honest, I'm not much paying attention to any heat other than the self-generated kind. :)

It happens. :)=

I've broken two of them this year myself.

It might be some strange and unusual power given to Jane's Guide girls? hah

My sympathies go out to you on the loss of a very special toy.

I, too, lost my beloved Hitachi just last month. Mine, however, went out with sparks, scorching my sheets. But that hasn't stopped me from getting a replacement.
