Two years ago today I started a free Blogger account so as to empty some of the contents of my head into a less incriminating spot than a paper journal which I kept hidden in the closet.
A whole lotta stuff has happened since then. I suppose I could insert links to some of the highlights and lowlights here, but I’ll let you pore through the archives on your own if the spirit so moves.
The thing that strikes me the most about my time spent blogging is how wonderful people have been to me. I didn’t expect to make friends while blogging; I certainly didn’t expect to make such amazing friends, some of whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in real life.
It’s a beautiful thing. It amazes me on a daily basis how supportive and encouraging the vast majority of bloggers are of one another. We could be petty to one another. We could get snarky over traffic, or sponsors, or opportunities…but we don’t.
I’d like to believe that any envy we feel toward one another has the effect only of spurring us on to greater achievements. If that sounds naive, I don’t much care.
I thank every one of you for stopping by, whether it’s been once, once a month or once a day (or once an hour–I know who you are!). Your comments and emails have kept me going through some stressful times. I’ve enjoyed making you laugh, cry, get off and (on occasion) get pissed off.

Your blog is first on my blogroll, mostly because it’s sorted alphabetically ;) , but really it is the first blog I read every day and the only one I check comments on during the day. I doubt I will find anyone I enjoy reading as much as I do you.
You were very nice to me when I started out blogging and when I went through some tough times last year. I’ll always remember that, because you didn’t have to be that way. I am so happy you were still here blogging when I got back from wherever it is that I went.
For a birthday present, I tried to re-create your first post, but to no avail. I found clips of your second post, “That’s Me”, and of your third post, “Contrarian”, but your first post seems lost in the ether. Even Google Reader doesn’t go that far back anymore.
I even found some interesting facts along the way like your first appearance in Sugasm, then Bloggasm was #5, with “Book-Nerd”, less than a month after you started blogging. Your earliest recorded comment is on Rupert’s blog on the same day this blog was started: You said you liked to look at a relaxed cock. It was fun trying to unearth the history of this blog and reread some the earlier posts and comments.

Wow…with all the praise and love already on here, it’s kind of hard to think of something original to say to express how much I admire you and look forward to reading your entries every day. That said, I am of course, going to try…otherwise, what am I doing here? ;o)
The grace and strength you show in your writing and in your dealings with the various hardships in your life make me wish I could manage to deal with my situation in a more restrained and healthy manner. But more than that, it inspires me to try to do so and for that, I thank you. Your courage in pursuing the life you want for yourself, and your kids, despite the many reasons you might have found not to do so, again makes me want to do better in my own life.
So, the congratulations you are due today are for SO much more than just your blog-iversary…but congrats on that TOO! May you choose to continue sharing your fascinating and inspiring life with us for many years to come.
